The reason I became a teacher is because of the positive change I can make in a child’s life. The reason I became a partner in Ignite Brewing Company is because of the opportunity to help create positive change in the communities we serve.
As I reflect on the upcoming holidays, I can’t help but think about our mission of “Making Beer Make a Difference”, as helping others is such an important part of this time of the year.
The idea around our mission started when we were sitting around a kitchen table, trying to think about how we could start a business where we love going to work, and also impact the community in a positive way – both by giving back to the community and by creating a gathering place where people could have great beers and spend time together. We all feel it is important to give back to our community in volunteering and giving to others in need.
We came up with our goal of giving back 11% for two reasons. The first, because it reminds us of two Matchsticks 😊, and the second, we wanted a way to be able to set a goal and specific number that would do good in the community in various ways. This holiday season, one way we felt we can make a difference in a child’s life and the local community is by supporting Toys for Tots. Many families benefit from this program and we feel blessed to be part of it because it’s a way for us to have our beer make a difference. We’ve also tied in the 11% by incentivizing our customers to bring a gift to donate and receive 11% of their bill.
Also in December & January, we will be participating in the Barberton-area holiday donation drive for canned foods and toiletries. While giving is high in December, many food pantries become barren in January when the need is still there for our local families. We’ll be sharing more info soon on our Facebook page.
