Our first Making Beer Make A Difference spotlight is the Lake Anna YMCA in Barberton, Ohio. Highlighted below is some information on the YMCA and how we got involved with their reverse raffle.

The Lake Anna YMCA
The Lake Anna YMCA opened in December 2007 with a goal of reaching out to thousands of health seekers throughout Barberton and its surrounding communities. The Y is where everyone – regardless of age, income, religion, or background – has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

This month, the Lake Anna YMCA will be hosting their annual reverse raffle, but virtually for the first time. All money raised during the reverse raffle goes towards the Lake Anna YMCA Annual Campaign to provide scholarships to those in the Barberton Community who cannot afford a membership or the cost of the YMCA Programs. In addition to supporting the virtual event, we will be streaming the Reverse Raffle live in the taproom for any ticket holders interested in sharing a pint and watching with us.

Why It’s Important to Ignite
Two of Ignite’s partners, Jason and Megan Slater, have been involved with the Lake Anna YMCA since 2007. Read Jason’s comments below on how they got involved, and how they perceive the YMCA as an integral part of the Barberton Community.

“Megan and I are Charter Members of the Lake Anna YMCA and have been involved since its opening in 2007.  We value the meaningful programs and relationships that the YMCA fosters in the Barberton community – they are truly priceless.  I was fortunate enough to be asked to be a part of the YMCA Advisory Board many years ago.  I have had the pleasure of being the Chair of the Board for the last 2+ years.  Although we’ve been involved in various ways at the Y, the YMCA Reverse Raffle is our favorite!  It has become a capstone fundraising event to support the scholarship needs within our community.

We’re excited to be able to combine our love of Ignite and passion for the YMCA and have the Lake Anna YMCA as part of Ignite’s Making Beer Make a Difference mission.”
