Are you curious about our February beer of the month? You have come to the right place! Our Mounds of Curiosity is a full-bodied sweet stout delivering waves of flavor from the cacao nib and coconut infusion. One sip will make you curious why you don’t enjoy mounds of this more often. The optional toasted, sweet, shaved coconut garnished rim takes the flavor experience to a whole new level.
Curious about what a stout actually is? It’s fairly simple. It’s made up of a mixture of malt, barley, hops, water, and yeast, but it has a higher un-roasted barley content. There is a variety of styles of stouts that make the beer unique.
What makes a sweet stout different from a regular stout? A stout becomes sweet when it contains lactose. Lactose is just a sugar that is derived from milk. Lactose can’t be fermented from the beer yeast, giving this beer sweetness and a full body flavor. Sweet stouts are also called milk stouts.
Fun Fact: Each batch of Mounds of Curiosity is brewed with at least 10 pounds of coconut and 5 pounds of cacao nibs! Still curious? Stop by our tap room and try this 2019 Ohio Craft Brewers Cup Gold Winner if you haven’t already, and don’t forget about the toasted coconut rim!
